American Porter
Alaskan Smoked Porter – Alaskan Brewing Company, Juneau, AK ABV: 6.5% IBU: 45 22 oz. - $10
Smoked Beer. Known as "rauchbier" in Germany, smoke-flavored beers were virtually unknown in the U.S. until Alaskan Smoked Porter was developed in 1988. The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Glacial fed water is used in this beer, originating in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Prior to brewing, selected malts are smoked in small batches under carefully controlled conditions in a commercial food smoker using local alder wood. Salmon hints. Heavy smoke.
Steelhead Scotch Porter – Mad River Brewing Company, Blue Lake, CA ABV: 6.4% IBU: ? 12 oz. - $6
Full body of a semi chewy malt mouth feel, kicks quick into the robust roasted grain flavor of espresso and mildly smoky charcoal (earthy). Hints of peat smoked malt enhance the roasted character, hops are a touch oily with a restrained yet pungent bitterness that somewhat hide behind the malt. As the beer warms up, sweet alcohol mingles with ghostly impressions of licorice and evergreen. Caramel hits middle to finish though roasted flavor is still dominant throughout the beer.

Smooth and crisp with a lightish body though the mouth feel appears to be full up front. Touch of lemon rind with a fresh cut hay flavour, hop bitterness makes a snappy bite. Horse blanket and other medicinal phenols over take the tongue for a bit also. Tart from start to finish with hints of cider and other tart fruits. The finish seems to be everlasting in its dryness.

This beer has a very light, nearly white creamy head over a hazy but translucent "blonde" body with lots of visible sediment floating about. There is a sweetness throughout that changes slowly and veers coyly towards spicy. Hops are subdued and give only a faint bitterness and flavor; mild phenols lend an herbal quality that follows the grain right into the finish. As the alcohol still warms the mouth there is a trace honey flavor in the end.
Duvel – Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat NV, Breendonk-Puurs, Belgium ABV: 8.5% 11.8 oz. - $8
Clean pale malt flavor throughout. Three big flashes of yeast, hop bitterness and alcohol hit the palate. Big cleansing crispness with a big warming alcohol landing middle to end. Mild medicinal phenols peak in the middle and nearly vanish as the alcohol takes over. Wonderful.
La Fin du Monde – Unibroue, Chambly, Quebec, Canada ABV: 9% IBU: 19 12 oz. - $7
This brew is very smooth and sweet up-front with loads of malt mouth-feel. A warming sensation begins in the back of the tongue and turns into a spicy, almost pepper, flavor. This flavor is the 9% alcohol that cleverly camouflages itself until consumed. A very light hop lingers behind, with warming esters in the mouth.
Delirium Tremens – Brouwerij Huyghe, Belgium ABV: 9% IBU: 26 11.8 oz. - $8
This beer has a tart/sour fruity taste with notes of passion fruit & peaches. A spicy and complex flavor balanced with strong Belgian yeast notes. When poured the head dances and floats off the glass enticingly. Finishes crisp and dry. Wonderful. After three, pink elephants.

Flanders Red Ale
Duchesse de Bourgogne – Brouwerij Verhaeghe, Vichte, Belgium ABV: 6.2% 11.8 oz. - $9
Simply the best: Soft and slightly sour aroma, dry woody with nut standing back. Biting crispness within the light yet effervescent and smooth carbonation. A puckering twang of sourness admires the palate, while fruity flavors ride along with this giving suggestion of ripe currant and apple peel. A woody dryness sneaks up and dries the mouth in a split second and clears away all residual sweetness.

St. Louis Framboise (Raspberry) – Brouwerij Van Honsebrouk NV, Belgium ABV: 4.5% 12.7 oz. - $10

It is this unusual process that gives the beer its distinctive flavor: dry, vinous, and cidery, with a slightly sour aftertaste. We serve raspberry, peach, and cherry selections.

English Brown Ale
Moose Drool – Big Sky Brewing Company, Missoula, MT ABV: 5.1% 12 oz. - $5
Don't let the name deter you. Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. A malty beer but hopped enough to keep the flavors from becoming too sweet. There also seem to be hints of spice, scented roast. It is a good beer to have more than one of.
Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale – Samuel Smith Old Brewery, Tadcaster, UK ABV: 5% 12 oz. - $5
Light carbonation and refreshing body are the first sensations. Clean up front and then a rush of heavy caramel flavor explodes and slowly tapers to a nutty after taste.
